Bionic underwater vehicle inspired by fish with enlarged pectoral fins

- Underwater robots often need to be able to move or hover at low speeds in turbulent waters, while performing a specific task

- It is difficult for the propeller to move the robot in these conditions

- Another factor when an underwater robot is moving at low speeds in unstable flowing waters is the propeller's "twitching" movement

- This twitching generates unpredictable fluid pulses that reduce the robot's efficiency

AWTEC - 6th Asian Wave and Tidal Energy Conference

Energy output of wind farm installations can be increased by modeling the wind flow of the entire collection of turbines and optimizing the control of individual units

 - All existing utility-scale turbines are controlled to maximize only their own power production, as if they were isolated units with no detrimental impact on neighboring turbines.

- By reducing wake losses, the algorithm could make it possible to place turbines more closely together within future wind farms, therefore increasing the power density of wind energy, saving on land (or sea) footprints
